To act rightly, give fairly, and live truthfully.
Justice is the virtue that calls us to give each person what is rightfully due to them — not just in legal terms, but in how we treat one another with fairness, honesty, and respect. It is the firm and constant will to do what is good — to uphold truth, protect the vulnerable, and walk in righteousness.
Justice is not only about punishment or fairness; it is about right relationships — with others, with ourselves, and with God.
“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” — Isaiah 1:17
A just person does not turn a blind eye to suffering, nor do they remain silent in the face of wrongdoing. Justice requires courage, but also humility. It reminds us that our actions matter — not just for ourselves, but for the people around us. Every choice we make is a seed, and justice ensures that we sow seeds of goodness, not harm.
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” — Micah 6:8
Justice begins in the heart — in how we view others, in how we treat those who can give us nothing in return, in how we speak the truth, even when it is inconvenient. To live justly is to live in the light.
Practicing the Virtue of Justice:
- Speak truth, even when it is hard.
- Defend the dignity of every human being.
- Keep your word and honour your responsibilities.
- Refuse to take advantage of others.
- Treat people with fairness, not favoritism.
“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” — Amos 5:24
Affirmation:
I walk in truth and fairness. I treat others with dignity and honour. I stand for what is right, and I act with a just heart.
Closing Prayer:
* God of righteousness, teach me to love justice as You do. Open my eyes to see where I must act, speak, and stand in truth. May I always defend what is right, honour what is fair, and walk humbly in Your will. Amen.*
